Being Innovative Doesn’t Mean Starting a Fortune 500 Company

If you think so, then sorry, you’re not being innovative. You’re just blindly repeating what millions of others consider to be “innovative”. And that’s not innovative.

Dude, stop tolerating a life of mimicry and think for yourself.

Jonah Berger?

Has anyone read the book contagious: Why Things Catch On? Berger argues that advertising does not lure people as much as the importance we place on what our peers think or value. I wonder if that’s true. Are we inseparable from culture’s milieu? Are our values and what we think is “cool” or a “must have” largely informed by society? Can we told autonomous opinions and values?

Does John Berger’s Contagious answer these questions? Ae these the right questions to ask about phenomenon that catches public attention (and subsequently make them want to have things others do even if they really don’t want or need them?).
